Carlsberg Azerbaijan Supports Environmental Initiative: "Protect the Caspian Sea!"

Carlsberg Azerbaijan supported major environmental initiative: “Protect the Caspian Sea!”. The campaign, held from September 7 to 21, focused on cleaning the Caspian Sea coastlines in Lankaran, Astara, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Sumgait, and Baku.

The initiative aimed to enhance Azerbaijan's environmental conditions, increase public awareness about recycling, and encourage responsible environmental behavior.

The final event of the "Protect the Caspian Sea!" campaign took place on Novkhani Beach in Baku. With the participation of 1000 volunteers, 3 tons of waste were collected from the beach area. In total, 7 tons of waste were gathered from 23 hectares of Caspian Sea beaches and sent for recycling this year.

The Carlsberg Azerbaijan team actively participated in the campaign, helping to clean the Caspian beaches of waste. During the initiative, the company also provided volunteers with "Xırdalan 0.0" — the first locally produced 0.0 beer.

Carlsberg Azerbaijan Managing Director, Alius Antulis, emphasized that the company supports environmental initiatives in the countries where it operates, aligning with its global sustainability strategy, “Together Towards ZERO and Beyond”:

“For over five years, Carlsberg Azerbaijan has been a reliable partner of the 'Protect the Caspian Sea!' campaign. We are dedicated to environmental protection and strive to contribute to a sustainable future for Azerbaijan. Today, alongside our team, we made a meaningful impact by collecting a significant amount of waste from the coast. I believe that, year after year, more partners will join this important initiative.”

In addition to Carlsberg Azerbaijan, the main partners of the campaign included the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Coca-Cola, SOCAR Trading, the environmental platform EcoHub, Baker Hughes, Bakcell, AMCHAM, and McDonald's.

Worth noting that the International Coastal Cleanup Day, established back in 1986, is celebrated in over 100 countries worldwide. Azerbaijan has been participating in this initiative under the "Protect the Caspian Sea!" slogan for 15 years. During this time, more than 89 hectares of Caspian Sea beaches have been cleared of approximately 57 tons of household waste.

Worth noting that the global program “Together Towards ZERO and Beyond” is a strategy developed by the Carlsberg Group to minimize negative environmental impacts across its entire value chain by 2040.

Following this strategy, the company is implementing a sustainability program with ambitious goals, including: ZERO carbon footprint, ZERO farming footprint, ZERO water waste, ZERO irresponsible drinking, ZERO packaging waste, and ZERO accidents culture.
